Bid increment

Bid increments reflect the usual rhythm of a sale and are based on scaling bid amounts.

If there is no custom bid increment set by the auction house, the applicable bid increment is defined by the following intervals:

up to €19: €5,

from €20 to €199: €10,

from €200 to €499: €50,

from €500 to €999: €100,

from €1,000 to €4,999: €200,

from €5,000 to €9,999: €500,

from €10,000 to €19,999: €1,000,

from €20,000 to €49,999: €2,000,

from €50,000 to €99,999: €5,000, €100,000

and more: €10,000

On the day of the sale, to keep pace with the often unpredictable bidding, the auction house will not always be able to keep to the bid increments set at the outset and will have to adapt to bids coming from the auction room, over the phone or via the internet.
