Why and how do I verify my identity?

Why and how do I verify my identity?

Auctioneers are subject to certain obligations relating to anti-money laundering and the prevention of terrorist financing. As such, they must be able to identify their clients.

When registering for a sale, if you have never completed this procedure on our site, or if your identity document that has already been verified has expired, you will be asked to verify your identity.

This verification is also available directly from your profile:

We recommend completing this verification from your smartphone.

Otherwise, you can also complete it from any computer equipped with a camera, or ask someone close to you to use their smartphone.

To ensure optimum security, we work with our partner Stripe, a specialist in online identity verification.

It takes place in 3 steps:

1. You choose the device

In this first step, you will find all the information relating to the collection and use of your biometric data by our partner Stripe. You can access their Privacy Policy at any time and click here to find out more about how Stripe manages and stores your data.
You must click on accept and continue to proceed with the verification.

You can choose to register using your mobile phone or a computer equipped with a camera:

  • From a computer, a QR code will appear so that, by scanning it, you can continue confirming your account from your smartphone.
You can also choose to receive the verification link by email or SMS to continue from another phone.
  • If you wish to continue on your computer, choose "Continue on this device" and you will move on to the next step.
  • From a smartphone, you will be taken directly to the next step once you have accepted the terms.

2. You choose the identity document

You can choose the identity document that will be used to confirm your account from the following options:

  • Passport
  • Identity card
  • Driving licence

Have the chosen document to hand and click on “Everything is ready”. You can then take a photo of the identity document.

You can select automatic or manual mode to take the photo.

Paper driving licences may cause problems because the identity photograph may be old. In this case, please use another document.

If you have difficulty photographing your identity document, you can consult this article:
How do I upload a photo of my identity document?

3. You take a photo of yourself

To prevent the fraudulent use of an identity document, we need to make sure that its owner is the person completing this process.

That is why, during the final step of confirming your identity, we ask you to take a photo of yourself.

That’s it! Your verification is being processed and you will receive confirmation of the result.

How can I change the information? Once your identity has been verified, the first name, surname and date of birth information can no longer be changed in your account, except by requesting this from our Customer Service team at contact@interencheres.com.
